Plek is a widely used online employee experience and communication platform (SaaS) made in Amsterdam. In 2024, we’re looking to break new ground with features that improve productivity and employee engagement at our clients’ companies, while supporting a big base set of collaboration tools. 

Job Description

To help us maintain and scale our base, we’re looking for backend engineers with 3-5 years experience under their belt. Our backend is in NodeJS, but new features are to be built in NestJS. 

You’ll be working in our dedicated backend team, helping us transition and rebuild a legacy code base, deploying code, and in some cases, providing 2nd line support. If you get excited about the prospect of helping an existing monolith architecture transition to microservices, gently introducing us to new technologies, and you bring a flexible and pragmatic mindset, this is the team for you.

Responsibilities

• Develop using NodeJS, NestJS, MongoDB, Docker, Redis and other technologies for our SaaS product's key features.

• Advocate and implement code integrity, scalability, and maintainability best practices, particularly within NestJS.

• Conduct in-depth code reviews, providing constructive feedback to enhance NodeJS- and NestJS-based code quality.

• Manage the CICD pipeline (for web deployment), come up with improvements, and implement them. 

• Optimize application efficiency and resolve performance constraints leveraging NestJS capabilities.

• Stay updated on industry trends and technologies.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience

• Extensive TypeScript/JavaScript backend development expertise.

• Demonstrated experience in backend software projects.

• Strong grasp of software engineering principles, design patterns, and industry-leading practices.

• Proficiency in NodeJS / JavaScript (ES6+), unit testing frameworks, Git, and modern development tools.

• Agile development experience, problem-solving skills, and effective communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Track record in secure software product development.

• Eager to learn, open to give and receive feedback, mentality of getting things done, thorough yet pragmatic.

Remuneration & culture

Salary ranging from €50k to €65k yearly incl. 8% holiday allowance, depending on experience and qualifications. Also eligible for company bonuses and stock appreciation rights (SAR) scheme.

We work from the office 1-2 days a week. Multiple people in our team work 32-36 hours a week.
